Year Nine Experimental Research Phase One: Research Proposals

Dear RAF,

My name is Dr.Wellercoutes, I am the Head of World Of science University, we have been rated 5 stars by every inspector that ever visited our university. I have been working as a scientist for 32 years and i think its time to give my ideas somewhere else and i have chosen the RAF. I am more than pleased to introduce you to my experiment that I was writing about. These days helicopters get shot down easily what i want to do is create a helicopter that is bullet proof and rocket proof not only this will stop ally’s getting shot down this Helicopter will be worth millions because it will impossible to die init. For me this experiment is only going to work if we use the right materials, we need to use heavy solid material if we want this to work but the down side is that the Helicopter will be a bit slow. If you take my experiment to the next level i promise not 1 soldier will ever die in a Helicopter again. Thank you for you time.

HOW DOES THE DIRECTOR OF “HOTEL RWANDA” USE CIMATOGRAPIC TECHNIQUES TO DEVELOP TENTION IN PAUL’S EPIPHANY SCENE

The director focuses on Paul’s epiphany scene to control the audiences apprehension of the horror on the river road. Mid scene Paul was driven to a place where there were dead bodies and the camera angle was of him standing in the dark looking hopeless. The amount of bodies lying on the floor was unbelievable the music they were using were mostly dramatic because in most of the movie it was heart breaking for me.

Also not only they were using music but they were using sound effects an example of one is a knife being scraped onto another knife which gives that scary feeling that something is going to happen. Next when Georges leaned in through the window you could see the arrogance on Georges face and how trapped Paul was feeling.

The settings in Hotel Rwanda have a big impact on the viewers thoughts about the movie. The setting has a part of making a seen dramatic and grabbing the viewers attention for example when Gregoire and Paul were in the car at night and everywhere was quiet and dark, The camera shot in that scene was a mid shot to show that its just Paul and Gregoire in the car its not only the setting that makes the viewers think what’s going to happen its the sound. The whole idea of what the director is trying to do is put no sound to build some suspense. Another example is when Paul was standing on the bodies, that scene setting shows all the lives that were taken also, it was dark and foggy because the brightness is the thing that sets the mood.

Mid scene, Paul is shown in the right of the frame in clear focus as he recovers from falling into the body of the dead child; in the back round the bodies are still visible, but only indistinctly- out of focus. This adds to the tension in Hotel Rwanda because we are gradually realising that these are dead bodies, but we still have hope that this isn’t true.

In Hotel Rwanda they use a lot of music, the music they use depends on what is happening in the scene for example if they are celebrating something good they would put happy music but if something like someone is about to die they would play dramatic music or sad music. The reason why they use music is because they need to set the mood so the viewers can not only see what’s going on but feel what’s going on.An example of when music is used is when Paul treads over the bodies with the car, the director uses music that suits the setting which is dark and foggy. What the music is trying to do is to focus on what’s surrounding Paul whic is the dead bodies. Another example is when Georges leaned through the window and was talking to Paul, the music that was playing was focusing on how serious Georges was and how trapped Paul was feeling.

Out of all the movies I have watched Hotel Rwanda is the movie that uses the most Special effects. For me the special effect that they love using and is really good is the mist, the mist is the special effect that makes everything spooky. Especially when its dark, you never know if someone or something could be sneaking up on someone which creates suspense. An example of when they use mist is when Paul was visiting the dead bodies and every where was misty and dark.

The director loves to focus on the actors faces and blur out the back an example of this is when the director was showing Paul’s facial expressions to looking at the dead bodies. Paul’s face looked surprised, scared and looking for revenge.

Kain: If I was there that wouldn’t happened.

Melvyn : yes it would
Lueol: Na na na na.
Kain: I would’ve stopped that.
Lueol (over Kain): I would’ve turned you as well. I can’t… I can turn Kieran but I can’t turn you?
Kain (over Lueol): I could’ve played centre back yeah, you said I couldn’t defend. I can play centre back. I don’t care.
Lueol: I can turn you but I can’t turn you yeah?
Hasan: But you turned Kieran once!
Lueol: And we got a penalty.
(Hasan says something muffled)

Melvyn: But you never deserved that pen
Hasan: You admitted it wasn’t a penalty.
Lueol: huh?
Hasan: But you admitted it wasn’t a penalty
Lueol: Whatya mean it’s not a penalty he tripped me up!
Hasan: Yea not in the box it was outside the box.
Kain: Yeah Yeah. It was
Liam: No it was inside.

Hasan: It went all the way up you know! He hit on the wall yeah, nd it came back. It came back nd he volleyed it.
Liam (Over hasan): Your allowed to hit it off the wall. Your allowed to hit off the wall.

New

  1. ȚMy family in winter, In winter my whole family go to the wonderful winter wonderland in Hyde Park to celebrate living yet another white Christmas. As we got into the cleansed cab heading for Hyde park in Westminster my mum just remembers that her purse wad in the kitchen lieing down next to the toaster so we were ready to depart the house in peace. About twenty minutes into the cab ride I told my mum “Can I have a plasticbag ” my mum answers “Why”  then I reply  “because I need to vomit” My mum recalls me saying I need a plastic bag because I’ll vomit but she didn’t think it would have been a long enough cab ride to vomit. Then it happened I hopped out the car and vomited in some muses near by. After I felt okay I got back into the car and was ready to continue our journey. At last I finally reach the entrance into WWL (Winter Wonder Land). Once I entered I went and covered the whole vicinity of the park, In the park  it smelt like fresh strawberry cotton candy, I could see all the sky scraping rides ready to be ridden on, I could hear the the children screaming on the crazy rides and lastly I could feel the idrenilin building up in side me as I went down the Tower to power ride as it was going down fast and furious. After exploring all the rides  we went to the 02 Arena to go to a resturant called Five Guys where I ordered the greasy and crunchy chips with an advanced chease burger that had mouth watering taste and on the side was a cooling drink of water. As we exited the resturant I thank my mum and sister for this wonderful journey  then finally we were on our way home .

My family in summer, In the summer my family went to Southend Theme park. When we got to Southend the first thing we done was to got to check in to our hotel where we will be staying for a good 3 days. We then enter the glistening silver elevator to the 15th floor where we enter our hotel room. The hotel room smells of the fresh citrus fruits, on the other hand my room had a great view of the beech and a confy bed. But with no further adew I slipped on my navy blue shorts and my plain white ironed T-shirt lastly I jumped into my ultra blue addidas fluxes then barged past the door and ran to the theme park with all my speed. The fist ride I go on is RAGE which is the tallest and best ride in the whole park. The ride starts off with a slow movement up the rollercoaster that goes up to the clouds and waits their for 3 seconds so all you can hear is the heavy breathing happening in your body and before I know it the coaster rushes down then enters into a loop de loop and ends it with a high speed dash inot the finish line. After the ride I felt really dizzy and felt like I needed to vomit but luckily I didn’t. So after my dizziness stopped I went to have a good old hot donut but this wasn’t any old donut this donut had the right amount of sugar sprinkled on it and melted in my mouth after a divine taste. After a long day we then head to the hotel where they provide some wonderful dinner that fills me up to the max. I calmly walk to the room and sleep. It’s Saturday morning and we are ready to pack and leave after a great experience, so we get our suit cases and depart the hotel then arrive at home safe.

Heavy rainfall

This could affect the shape of the hydrograph because if the rain is coming down heavily non stop the river will rise and cause a flood.

Melting snow

This could have a big impact because the more snow that  comes down the more water there will be on the floor and this could case a flood.

Long periods of rain

If rain keeps coming down for at least 3  days this could cause a flood because 3 days of rain is a lot. Also if the rain keeps coming down into the river Thames it will over flow.

Describe how 2 human factors could affect the shape of the hydrograph.

DEFORESTATION

because removing trees reduces the amount of water intercepted and increases run-of.

URBANISATION

towns and cities have more impermeable surfaces.

How does Shakespeare use fate

In William Shakespeare’s play, he uses metaphor to communicate his ideas about fate.
In an example Romeo tells God to direct him ” He that hath steerage of my course, direct my sail”. Shakespeare describes Romeo as a ship and God as the captain of the ship. God controls Romeo ‘s path he follows and what it leads to. In the play, Shakespeare uses this metaphor ” Some consequence yet hanging in the stars” What Romeo is doing here is saying there is something bad that is going to happen to him but not just yet. also you know the bad thing that’s going to happen to him is going to be in the future because it fate and fate means what your destiny is going to be. Lastly Romeo says this to Juliet  “it is the east and Juliet is the sun”. What i think Shakespeare is trying to do here is refer Juliet to a sun because the sun is really a star so she is basically being called a star which she is. Romeo says this because Juliet is the love of his life.

A large co-incidence in Romeo and Juliet is when Juliet fancied Rosaline, but Rosaline didn’t fancy him back but then there was Juliet. Romeo was looking for someone who will return his love and the co-incidence is Romeo is that Juliet is their. Another co-incidence is when Romeo shows up to the tomb at the same time as Paris which is a co-incidence. When Romeo saw him at he tomb Romeo killed him.

The chorus

Two households, both alike in dignity
(In fair Verona, where we lay our scene),
From ancient grudge break to new mutiny,
Where civil blood makes civil hands unclean.
From forth the fatal loins of these two foes
A pair of star-crossed lovers take their life,
Whose misadventured piteous overthrows
Doth with their death bury their parents’ strife.
The fearful passage of their death-marked love
And the continuance of their parents’ rage,
Which, but their children’s end, naught could remove,
Shakespeare does this so he can give you a bit of information of how the play is going to be so he can grab your attention.

Is now the two hours’ traffic of our stage—
The which, if you with patient ears attend,
What here shall miss, our toil shall strive to mend.

In Romeo and Juliet Shakespeare uses iambic pentameter when Romeo says “it is the east, and Juliet is the sun “. Iambic pentameter means the term describes the rhythm that the words establish in that line. Another example is this “Be not her maid, since she is envious;”. in some sort of pattern, which gives the line that certain rhythm that makes the line sound “poetic.” This is how you break it down n FAIR | VerON | a WHERE | we LAY | our SCENE (information from shmoop)

Shakespeare uses lots of direct references to fate/God. An example of a direct reference to fate is when Romeo says ” Consequence yet hanging in the stars” how I think Romeo uses direct references to fate is when he says ” hanging in the stars” the reason for this is because it means its destined to happen so its going to be Romeo’s fate to happen. Romeo says this because he met the love of his life at the ball so he thinks something bad is going to happen to him. Shakespeare used direct references towards God when Romeo said “hanging in the stars”. The stars are in the sky as is God, so God is the one directing his destiny. A second example of when Romeo tells God “He that Hath steerage of my course direct my sail” Romeo is talking about God the reason why Hath has a capital “H” is because that means God. So Romeo is telling God to direct his sail (boat) because he puts hi trust in God. How does Shakespeare use direct reference to fate ? he uses fate when he says “steerage of my course direct my sail”. Romeo doesn’t want to direct his future, he wants God to direct his destiny on where he goes in the future. Romeo’s fate is now in God’s hands. When Romeo says “steerage of my sail” it means someone should control his path.

Fate was one of the most important thing in the whole play. The reason for this is because it tells you if things will end well or end up bad. The thing that  everyone loves about Shakespeare is that he makes you think and make you have to look back and see what he’s trying to say. When Shakespeare says ” The fearful passage of their death-marked love”  It will make you think who are the two lovers and how do they die that is an example of how Shakespeare makes you think.

HOW DOES SHAKESPEARE USE SIMILE IN ROMEO AND JULIET

My essay is going to be about similes and how Shakespeare uses similes in Romeo and Juliet. My favourite use of simile is when Romeo says ‘like a rich jewel in an Ethiop’s ear’ and he is comparing Juliet to something so glamorous, rich in colour and shiny. This shows that Romeo loves Juliet with all his heart and will put his life on the line for her. Shakespeare really engages with the readers by some how putting emphasis in those words.

When Romeo says “it is the east and Juliet is the sun” If you didn’t know the Sun is often referred to the biggest star in the world and what i think Romeo is trying to say is that Romeo is a star a really big one. This is also another way of Romeo saying to Juliet that he loves her. Shakespeare does this so that he can make you think and really get you into the book

Lastly Juliet says this “My bounty is as boundless as the sea, my love as deep” what she is trying to say is that her generosity for him is limitless as the sea and that her love is as deep so you can tell she is deeply in love with Romeo. Shakespeare puts this to show the true love for Romeo from Juliet.

ACT 5 SCENE 1

So what happens is Romeo goes to Apothecary to get a potion full of poison and when he opens the door he puts a gun to Romeos heart where Romeo doesn’t even feel frightened. On Wednesday morning, on a street in Mantua, a cheerful Romeo describes a wonderful dream he had the night before Juliet found him lying dead, but she kissed him, and breathed new life into his body. Just then, Balthasar enters, and Romeo greets him happily, balthasar tells Romeo that Juliet is still asleep in the capulet tomb and she’s living in Heaven right now
